Forbo FloorCare system

Forbo resilient floorings can be simply and efficiently cared for. Durable finishes on Forbo resilient floorings emphasise the beautiful structure and colours, and provide the perfect base for an efficient and easy floor care system. Cleaning and maintenance can then be performed by a few simple actions. When properly applied, the Forbo FloorCare system will keep the costs of floor cleaning and maintenance low.

Excellence in floor care performance of Forbo floorings is based on a combination of high performance finishes on our products and the well designed Forbo FloorCare system. This system involves a smart combination of simple and effective cleaning and maintenance.

Dust wiping and damp removal of stains usually is sufficient for normal routine cleaning. In this way daily cleaning is easy to perform so it will barely interrupt the normal use of the floor. A smart combination of regular cleaning and occasional maintenance will keep the floor covering in perfect condition for a very long time.

The Forbo FloorCare system is based on two essential principles of resilient floor care:
Cleaning: dirt is removed by dry or damp cleaning
Maintenance: the surface is kept closed and smooth

These two principles will perform complementary:
- Removing solid and sticking dirt will minimise the risk of sharp particles (such as sand) causing microscopic surface damages and scratches from foot and other traffic.
- A well closed and smooth surface will prevent dirt from being trapped into microscopic damages and scratches in the surface; the flooring appearance remains clean and bright.

To achieve these essential conditions, the Forbo FloorCare system supports two different methods. The preferred floor care method is determined by the availability of dedicated tools: the most effective and economical method is performed by using a so called one-disk or rotary machine. For those situations where using machine is not a practical option, a manual floor care method can be applied.

The Spray method

Mechanical floor care, using a rotary machine
In most situations the Spray-method is the best option. Spray-cleaning will keep the floor in optimal condition and inhibit the adhesion of dirt. The Spray-method provides a dry and hygienic environment.

Tools
Dust mop and dust cloth, wiper or wet vac, damp mop, a rotary machine. Most producers colour code their pads. Usually a buffing pad is red; for scrubbing use a red or green pad. A full Spray film is easily applied by a suitable applicator (e.g. synthetic sheepskin type)

Rotary speed
For periodic Spray cleaning, 150 to 300 rpm is recommended; use 300 to 500 rpm for removing gloss disturbances and to restore optimum appearance.

The Monel method

Manual Forbo floor care, using basic floor care tools
The Monel method (or ‘soap film method’) is the best option when a rotary machine is not available or not practical. A water-soluble Monel film prevents stubborn dirt from adhering to the flooring surface. Monel provides a satin gloss and an improved slip resistance.

Products
Forbo Monel is an effective cleaner and a protective soapfilm product. A Monel film prevents stubborn dirt from sticking to the flooring surface. The soapfilm will be removed and renewed at the next periodic cleaning.
