Colorex SD/EC product features
Cut from a block Colorex SD/EC tiles are cut from a solid block of homogeneous material, made of conductive coated chips that have been compressed together by a high pressure pressing process. This production process generates a material of superior quality with an extremely high and uniform compression and a pore-free, easy to clean surface meeting the highest hygiene requirements up to cleanroom suitability.

Conductivity warranty The electrical resistance of Colorex SD/EC is constantly monitored by our ISO 9001 compliant Quality Control. As a truly unique service, Forbo is the only manufacturer able to deliver a Certificate of Electrical Resistance Measurement. It is automatically generated for each production batch and is of course freely available upon request. The reported values are guaranteed for the entire lifetime of the tiles.

Hygienic properties The smooth, pore free surface of Colorex SD/EC is obtained by mechanical means only, without any factory coating. The surface of the tiles is soil resistant and does not harbour bacteria and moulds, a vital requirement for hygiene critical environments.

The advantages of a low plasticiser content Dimensional stability Indoor air quality Better chemical resistance Safer in case of fire 100% repairable without leaving any trace Can be fully renewed / revamped at any time

100% repairable without leaving any trace Deep and long scratches, holes, burn marks from cigarette butts, stains or discolouration caused by chemicals can be easily repaired by homogeneous welding (= welding same material together) or by grinding. No need to strip off and replace tiles, even if damaged throughout the whole thickness. The original surface structure, quality and appearance can be completely restored, making the repair actually invisible.

Resistance to chemicals Strong acids and alkalis in any concentration have no effect on ColoRex, even after extended exposure. The low plasticiser content results in chemical stability exceeding the industry’s average. Colouring chemicals or solvents like acetone can produce stubborn stains or discolourations. These surface damages can be easily removed with abrasive methods.

Resistance to heavy loads Loads of up to 120kg/cm2 rolling on polyamide or hard rubber wheels are no problem. 5'000 kg powered forklift trucks with one or two steering wheels a typical, critical case. This will require installation with 2-component polyurethane adhesive and 3.0 thickness. The resistance of loads of Colorex will depend in the first place on the quality and load bearing strength of the subfloor!

Reaction to fire The fire safety of building materials, especially of floor coverings, is typically rated upon two criteria: 1. Flammability, means the ability of the material to spread a fire. 2. Smoke development, means the quantity, density and toxicity of smoke / fumes emitted in case of fire. Colorex meets the highest standard possible in PVC technology Bfl-S1.

Tile form Colorex SD/EC is available in tiles only, due to the static high pressure pressing process. Tiles are more quickly and easily installed than sheets and with less waste, especially in the case of small and medium areas or rooms with irregular shapes. But tiles also mean freedom of design for architects and interior designer and last but not least, they are welcome on the construction site because of the easier handling.
