FORBO PROVIDE LEADING AUTHORITY ON MRSA FOR COMMENT
The Scottish Government has announced the launch of a hand washing awareness campaign in Scottish hospitals targeting all employees – not just clinical staff – in a bid to stop the spread of superbugs.

Forbo Flooring System’s role in defeating the MRSA superbug has been proven by a leading authority in this field of research. Testing carried out by leading institutes has confirmed that harmful bacteria and other micro-organisms such the norovirus and MRSA superbug cannot survive on the company’s natural Marmoleum® flooring.

Professor Curtis Gemmell, Emeritus Professor of Bacterial Infection and Epidemiology, University of Glasgow says: “Marmoleum® from Forbo is a robust, natural flooring defence against the most prevalent sources of hospital acquired infection such as MRSA, and I would recommend Marmoleum® for flooring in hospitals.

“Recent scientific research has shown that equipment and furnishings in close proximity to the patient had significantly higher contamination compared to other objects in the room, and it is likely that this is also the case with flooring. Marmoleum® is proven to kill MRSA playing an important role in limiting the spread of infection in hospitals.”

Marmoleum®’s outstanding performance and proven durability are due to the natural raw materials from which it is made. Furthermore, Marmoleum’s Topshield™ surface finish means dirt and dust cannot penetrate or grip the product’s smooth surface. This makes cleaning and maintenance easier and enables wards to be cleaned more effectively.

Professor Gemmell is a leading authority on MRSA and is available for comment on range of issues including hospital hygiene and superbugs. He is available for quotes/interviews.
